Neha Shivhare, PhD, MPhil, MEd, MSc, NET-JRF
PROGRAM LEADER

Neha is responsible for the planning, design, development, assessment, budgeting and delivery of Extended Learning’s (ExL) programs and courses. She collaborates with ExL teams, UBC Faculties and external education partners to create policies, systems and organizational practices that support the delivery of programs, including data science, cloud computing, extended reality, systematic program design and Indigenous health.

Neha is trained and skilled in policy analysis, research and international education, and has more than a decade of experience developing educational programs and leading teams. A passionate scholar and teacher-educator, she’s committed to advancing flexible and innovative teaching and learning practices that are accessible to adult learners. Neha enjoys research-based problem solving and policy planning to streamline operational processes.

Patricia St. Laurent
Patricia St. Laurent
MANAGER, PROGRAM MARKETING

Patricia plans, implements and evaluates integrated marketing campaigns for UBC Extended Learning University Preparation, Graduate Studies Preparation and Community Programs. She also collaborates with the UBC Faculty of Medicine and Peter A. Allard School of Law, as well as Blockchain@UBC, to deliver professional development programs. Patricia contributes to strategic planning, creates communications plans, assesses campaign performance, and applies insights from analytics to future marketing cycles.

Her long and varied career includes management positions in the financial, telecom, government, not-for-profit, retail and education sectors, and at advertising agencies. She has mentored for the Women in Leadership Foundation, has won several awards for her work in university continuing education, and has presented at higher education industry conferences.

Doina Strusievici
Doina Strusievici, BEng
MANAGER, BUSINESS INTELLIGENCE AND ANALYTICS

In her role at UBC Extended Learning (ExL), Doina turns data into actionable insights that inform marketing and business objectives. Her work encompasses business intelligence and data governance, digital insights and analytics, and digital marketing. Doina provides strategic direction for data collection, measurement, processing and reporting in collaboration with ExL marketing and program teams, UBC Web Services and external vendors.

Committed to her continuous learning and personal growth, Doina has completed the UBC Award of Achievement in Digital Analytics, the Certificate Program in Web Intelligence and the Certificate in Business Intelligence & Data Warehousing from UCI. Doina is part of the ExL Digital Transformation working group, and is a professional member of the Digital Analytics Association (DAA). She is also the recipient of several higher education marketing awards.

Conchita Suarez
Senior Student Services Representative

Conchita is a member of the student services team at UBC Extended Learning (ExL). Learners of all ages rely on Conchita and the team to help them choose the most appropriate program or course based on their unique needs and goals. Her experience working with the programs at ExL also allows her to contribute to course creation, planning, organizing and information sharing. Conchita is committed to providing exceptional advisory services that help people become successful lifelong learners.

Caitlin Sullivan
Caitlin Sullivan, BS, MA
MANAGER, PROGRAM MARKETING

Caitlin plans, implements and evaluates integrated marketing campaigns for UBC Extended Learning’s (ExL) languages, writing, English communications skills, data science and software development programs. She also collaborates with and supports the marketing for the UBC Master of Data Science.

With a background in mathematics, education, digital marketing and analytics, Caitlin also plays a key role in administering the marketing team’s project management application. Caitlin is committed to delivering campaigns that inspire learners of any age to pursue education.

Brian Taguchi
Brian Taguchi, BSc (Hons), BTeach, PCC
PROGRAM LEADER, ORGANIZATIONAL COACHING PROGRAMS

Brian leads and manages the UBC Certificate in Organizational Coaching program at UBC Extended Learning, as well as the delivery of coach training modules customized to internal clients at UBC. He hires, trains and coordinates a team of UBC Mentor Coaches, onsite facilitators and online moderators who support organizational coaching programs. In partnership with UBC Coaching Services, Brian designs and iterates program material and content to meet emerging needs in the coach training marketplace, and explores new initiatives within UBC and for industry.

Cynthia Tam, BA
Senior Program Assistant

Cynthia works with Career and Professional Programs leaders to coordinate and deliver online and in-person programs. She provides administrative and communications support for the instructional team and for students, with an eye to streamlining processes and policies to effectively deliver Extended Learning programming. With more than 15 years’ experience in adult education and administration, Cynthia has a service-oriented mindset and is focused on meeting learners’ needs.

Rose Tang
Student Services Representative

In her role at UBC Extended Learning (ExL), Rose provides a high level of customer service and administrative support to mid-career learners. With her background in business administration and tourism, she helps advise students on course and program choices and assists with registration. Rose liaises with program teams and student services team members, and supports students throughout their learning journey with ExL.

Mark Wisniewski
Mark Wisniewski, MA
PROGRAM COORDINATOR, UNIVERSITY PREPARATION AND COMMUNITY PROGRAMS

Mark coordinates the development and delivery of online and on-campus courses for UBC Future Global Leaders and UBC Academic Explorations. Mark’s background in international education includes teaching and developing courses for secondary school to pre-graduate level students. His graduate degree in Asian studies and a certificate in intercultural studies, along with extensive travel throughout Asia and published writing on international culture, all contribute and inform his work with students around the world. Mark is always looking for ways to improve programs to benefit staff and learners alike.

Kayla Wong
SENIOR FINANCIAL SPECIALIST

Kayla is a member of the UBC Finance team that supports Extended Learning.  She plays a crucial role in providing financial processing support for various UBC ExL units. Her responsibilities encompass Career and Professional Programs (CPP), Centre for Equitable Systems Design (CESD), and Marketing. Kayla collaborates closely with program coordinators to ensure prompt delivery of payments and financial transactions. Additionally, she actively assists the program director and senior managers in budget planning, reconciling, and updating budget forecasts. In addition to her involvement with CPP, CESD, and Marketing unit, Kayla also provides financial processing support to the Centre for Teaching, Learning, and Technology (CTLT).

PROGRAM LEADER, CAREER AND PROFESSIONAL PROGRAMS

Emily manages the design, development and delivery of Extended Learning (ExL)’s professional programs. She works closely with ExL teams, UBC Faculty and external partners to create policies, systems and organizational practices that support the delivery of programs including data science, cloud computing, extended reality, Python and Indigenous health. Emily brings more than 15 years’ experience in program management and educational technology to her role. She’s committed to advancing flexible and innovative teaching and learning practices that are accessible to adult learners, and support them in their career and professional transitions. A certified professional coach, Emily is a member of Coaching at UBC, a program that offers one-on-one and group coaching services to Faculty and staff. Emily is on leave until 2023.
