The Legal World of Entertainment

This course is part of the UBC Future Global Leaders On-Campus program for high school students ages 15–18.

This course is a comprehensive yet entertaining introduction to the legal and business side of the entertainment industry. Follow the development of an entertainment product, such as a major movie, TV show, music album, or video game, from concept to launch – but from the legal perspective!  The entertainment industry has unique legal requirements, and this course guides you through all of them. Through thought provoking classroom exercises and discussions from renowned industry professionals you learn how entertainment lawyers try to make everything fit together, and what happens when it all goes wrong.

This course is especially appealing to students thinking about law school and who want to learn about the legal world of entertainment and the highly sought after roles in entertainment law. Or students who want a behind the scenes look at the legal and business sides of the entertainment industry.

This course is offered in collaboration with the Centre for Entertainment Arts.
