From 2014 to 2022, the Russia-Ukraine war was mostly kept at a regional level with no significant impact on global politics. But since 2022, the war has had considerable impact on European security architecture and global politics in a variety of ways. This course examines the causes of the war between Russia and Ukraine and investigates how the war might affect the dynamics of global politics, employing a variety of international relations theories to assess the subject at the individual, state, and international levels of analysis.
Dr. IBRAHIM MURADOV, PhD, is a post-doctoral research fellow in the Department of Political Science at UBC. Dr. Muradov has been a faculty member in the Department of International Relations and Audit at Dnipro University of Technology since 2020. His research covers armed conflicts in former Soviet republics, particularly Ukraine.
