Dr. Raymond Ng is a professor of Computer Science at the University of British Columbia and the Director of the Data Science Institute. He is also the holder of the Canadian Research Chair on Data Science and Analytics. Dr. Ng’s research areas include data mining, text mining, health informatics, sensor analytics and databases. As the Chief Informatics Officer of the PROOF Centre of Excellence, his work focuses on the development of biomarker panels for organ failures in hearts, lungs, or kidneys. He also works with the Natural Language Processing Lab to create natural language summary metadata to facilitate access to the otherwise unstructured, conversational, raw data.
