Climate Change

Canada is not on track to meet its 2030 target of reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions to 30% below 2005 levels despite implementing several climate policies and initiatives. At the provincial level, British Columbia has set a target of a 40% reduction below 2007 levels by 2030. While BC has made progress, much more needs to be done to achieve long-term climate goals.

A key constraint to achieving time-sensitive GHG reduction targets is the lack of training and tools among local government and industry to successfully initiate climate action within their sphere of influence. To overcome this constraint, there is a growing need for climate champions to effect change within institutions and advance climate action.
