Sara Elder

SARA ELDER, BA, MA, PhD, is a senior policy advisor with the International Institute for Sustainable Development (IISD). 

Sara Elder is an advisor and educator. She is an Adjunct Professor at the Institute for Resources, Environment and Sustainability at UBC, and a Senior Policy Advisor with the International Institute for Sustainable Development (IISD). Sara specializes in interdisciplinary research and analysis designed to find local solutions to global social and environmental challenges. She is dedicated to mobilizing scientific knowledge in policy in her current work as well as in her past positions with the BC Ministry of Agriculture’s Climate Action Team and the United Nations.

Sara holds a Bachelor of Arts (International Relations), a Master of Arts (Resource Management and Environmental Studies) and a Doctor of Philosophy (Resources, Environment and Sustainability) all from the University of British Columbia.
