The prejudices people have toward others, both positive and negative, conscious or unconscious, affect conversations, feelings and experiences.
Unconscious biases surface as microaggressions in the workplace, and can lead to breakdowns of relationships, productivity and careers. They’re rooted in racism, and are innate and learned, which means people can learn to recognize and address them.
In this course, take part in reflective activities that expand your awareness of your unconscious biases. Develop practical and concrete strategies and techniques for addressing these biases, and noticing, identifying and responding to microaggressions.
This course can be applied to the UBC Certificate in Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion and UBC Micro-certificate in Anti-Racism.
